this is slightly disturbing...

"Control oil and you control nations; control food and you control the people." -Henry Kissinger, 1970

(NaturalNews) The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund recently reported the unveiling of the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009 (H.R. 875) on Feb. 4, 2009, by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), to both the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Committee on Agriculture. Cosponsored by 36 other Congressmen, all Democrats, H.R. 875 would essentially transfer all state control over food regulation to the Food Safety Administration (FSA), a newly-established federal bureaucracy to be created within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Its implications point to the elimination of all independent, family farms as well as all organic farming operations due to overbearing federal regulations subjectively determined by FSA in favor of corporate factory farms.

Some of the requirements set forth within H.R. 875 include:

- Designating FSA as sole regulator of food safety rather than the individual states, including granting FSA the power to implement and administer a "national system for regular unannounced inspection of food establishments" under its own terms.
- Reclassifying all farms as "food production facilities", ensuring they come under the regulatory and inspection protocols of FSA as well as enforcing compliance with whatever FSA deems as appropriate food safety requirements.
- Requiring farmers to comply with FSA-established "minimum standards" for farming practices, including requiring them to establish Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans and other written documentation as determined and mandated by FSA.
- Granting FSA the power to arrogate "preventative process controls to reduce adulteration of food" as it deems fit.
- Instituting FSA as food safety law enforcement, allowing it to assess civil penalties and fines for violation of any and all FSA safety laws up to $1 million for each violation. Collected fines would become unappropriated slush funds to be used however FSA deems fit in order to "carry out enforcement activities under the food safety law".

While many of these provisions may appear benign due to language emphasizing safety and to standardized regulations, the implications are far more mischievous. While stripping states of what little tenth amendment powers remain, H.R. 875 would establish a central regulatory body with even more unaccountable authority than that of the FDA. Similar to the provisions contained in the Obama "stimulus" package and the Bush "bailout" before it, H.R. 875 would bolster the ever-burgeoning federal empire in eliminating state sovereignty and individual freedom, particularly in relation to food.

The legality of any type of raw milk distribution across the country is also in jeopardy as H.R. 875 would grant FSA the statutory authority to impose a ban on its sale and distribution, period. If, for example, FSA determines that pasteurization is a necessary "preventative process" for safe milk production, it could override any current state provisions permitting intrastate raw milk sales, an area where even the overbearing FDA does not have legitimate jurisdiction. This limit would not apply to FSA, however, which would be granted unlimited jurisdictional power over all decisions concerning food safety, despite the unconstitutionality of such authority.

Additionally, the bill contains language that would expand the definition of the word "contaminant" for purposes of widening the scope of what constitutes "adulterated food". In other words, the vague, open-ended language would grant seemingly unlimited authority to FSA to arbitrarily levy fines whenever and to whomever it deems fit for breaching its subjective food safety rules.

The full text of H.R. 875 can be found here as well as committee contacts and a listing of the bill`s cosponsors. It is important to keep in mind that Rep. DeLauro`s husband, Stanley Greenburg, works for biotechnology giant Monsanto, the multi-national corporation responsible for the creation of recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) in cows, the perpetuation of "Round-Up Ready" sugar and soy products hidden in conventional foods, and the instigation of lawsuits against farmers whose fields were contaminated by Monsanto`s patented seeds. H.R. 875 provides the means by which corporations like Monsanto can seize control of the last-remaining independent farming operations in the United States.

H.R. 875 is still being reviewed by the committees with no official date set for a vote. Now is the time to contact both the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Committee on Agriculture to express opposition to this federal takeover of the food supply. Also, be sure to contact your representatives to express opposition as well.

(vianaturalnews)

With all that said. GO HERE to tell your congress(wo)man
to NOT pass this bill, and why.
Remember to write in your own text, and not agree with what's
written in the box.

30 and just beginning.

“ There’s an old Hindu saying that comes into my mind occasionally: “For the first 30 years of your life, you make your habits. For the last 30 years of your life, your habits make you.” As I’m going to be 30 in February, the thought has crossed my mind. Steve Jobs, in a Playboy Magazine Interview from 1985

Steiner

Rudolf Steiner described what are often called the “six supplemental exercises,” about which I have written in more detail in relation to parenting here. In brief, the exercises are:

concentration, in which we focus our attention on a common, otherwise uninteresting object for five minutes each day,
initiative, in which we do an otherwise unnecessary action each day at a predetermined time,

equanimity, in which we hold back the expression of our feelings (though not suppressing the feelings themselves) for a short time at an appropriate moment,

positivity, in which we try to find something positive in every situation or thing,

open-heartedness, in which we attempt to look at every new thing without prejudice,

and persistence, in which we create harmony by willfully repeating the previous five exercises.

❖❖❖❖❖❖

Relating through my daughters school, I have begun to dig deeper into the philosophy
behind the programs, and schooling. After reading more about this book from the anthromama blog,
I am beginning to see the meat and potatoes behind what it is that I feel about the school,
and through the school.
There's so much intention behind the curriculum that is put forth, and now
it's like seeing what is behind the curtains.
It's making the ordinary extraordinary, yet keeping it still very ordinary.

Grand Central Station.

Life is a bit like grand central station.
It's been busy busy busy, for me anyhow.

I feel like I've been expanding, in myself, and opening.
While at the same time, I feel the contracting of life as we
know it, from the economy and all the changes that it's
bringing to us.
I noticed myself wanting to curl up, subtly, when I feel and
hear about the changes going on.
while everything in life is showing me the opposite, I will
do my best to stay open.  Stay open to exactly where I need
to be, and bring myself to the task of my life and my purpose.

When I think about contraction, I realize that I have grown greatly
through pressure and contraction.  It's like the coal turning
into a diamond.  Billy Jean King wrote a book called Pressure is
a Privilege.  The title alone say it all.  I haven't read the book, but
I'd like to.  I saw her talk at the Women's conference last year, and
she was a total inspiration and a great speaker.  Pressure is a good thing.
It seems that most great people have it in them or around them. There's
always something lurking within or without that causes us to change,
that causes us to perform at a maximum performance.

I also found this writing on expanding and contracting.

Hidden Message: As we encounter new experience, we find disorganization expands as we encounter the unknown. If we decide to leave,

our activities contract back to a more comfortable organized state. This is the division between our quest for self-transforming experience

and our need for equilibrium. We are forever torn between living both contraction and expansion simultaneously. need for equilibrium

Little Joy

Little Joy has crept into my life.
I look for the small moments in time
to find them.
They are in the crevices, crooks and cranny's.
They are not always eventful, just monumental
in their own right.
For me, little joy is found in the ordinary.

I had a dream...

today was like moving through a jungle
a very thick jungle
but not physically - mentally and emotionally
When life throws us a curve ball or a limitation.
It gives us the grit to grind us into the fine diamonds
that we are - and that we're meant to be.
I found by moving, and keeping up with my daughter
that I was able to see a way through.
'Keep on Keepin On' is worthy and valuable words.
It means Don't Stop living because of your setbacks, and
limitations.
It means to keep moving through all the mental obstructions
that we create for ourselves, and sometimes by others.
I can't quite see beyond this jungle form but I do feel
the freedom it is giving me. And that more than anything
is the sweet life I wish to live.

"Accept the children with reverence,
educate them with love,
send them forth in freedom."
-Rudolf Steiner

This morning Im contemplating my choices, and agreements.
Often agreements are unspoken, and must be brought to the surface for review.
I'm grateful that i can dig within myself like this and keep finding what's necessary
and what is not. At times it's uncomfortable as well, I have to be sure not to project,
and conjure up what isn't really there. Most of all, I feel the connection to myself
through it and that is what I am always after.

for your astrological eyes...

We measure our global sense of both space (latitude and longitude) and time (universal time - UT or GMT) from the prime meridian located at Greenwich, England. So, we can perceive the collective influence of this momentous astrological event by looking at the alignment from this globally 'centered' perspective.

At dawn on 14th February the day dedicated to St Valentine, the patron saint of Love, the Moon in Libra enters the seventh house of relationships. And Jupiter and Mars are aligned in Aquarius in the twelfth house of spiritual transformation.

Forty years ago, the intuitive words of a song called Aquarius, brought the dawning of the new age into our collective awareness:

'When the Moon is in the seventh house
and Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Then love will rule the planets
and peace will steer the stars'

At dawn on 14th February the Cosmos actually embodies this perfect alignment to support our collective manifestation of love and peace and dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

The Aquarian chart of 14th February reveals an incredible concentration of cosmic influences blending with the energies of Aquarius in the twelfth house. Expansive Jupiter and energetic Mars are aligned with the higher purpose of the North Node. The presence of Chiron the wounded healer offers us the opportunity to heal the schisms that have separated us for so long. Neptune emphasizes collective humanitarian movements and the co-creation of social justice. And the presence of the radiant Sun enlightens the entire alignment.

Mercury also in the twelfth house but just beyond the cusp in Capricorn, allies with transformational Pluto to communicate and anchor the Shift throughout our global structures and institutions.

The Moon in Libra in the seventh house emphasizes harmonious real -ationships.

Venus in Aries in the first house energizes and empowers dynamic co-creativity.

And while Saturn- the great task master, is in opposition to Uranus- the unexpected awakener, this suggests an ongoing confrontation as the dregs of the unsustainable old paradigm reluctantly give way to the untested hope of the new. Their placements in Virgo and Pisces bring practical altruism and visionary inspiration to the transition.

At 7.25 a.m. on 14th February - and for the 18 minutes of the alignment, I invite you, in the universal heart, to add your own intention for love and peace and to co-create the dawning of the Age of Aquarius to that of the Cosmos. In whatever way feels appropriate for you, you may choose to align with 7.25 a.m. (UT) energizing a wave of intention that will surge around the Earth.

With love, joy and gratitude in the universal heart,

a lot of Little Joy!

a Lot of Little Joy!

Today.
Was like a dream...first the beautiful sun out shining.

Then, Three friends in my life, I love and appreciate, came to my relief.
Not because I was in danger, it was a weaving of understanding,
awareness, letting go, and consciousness. I was feeling out of my body
a bit the past few days...it happens. And they brought me back, not only
brought me back but came back better than ever! That happens too!

Then the rain. When it rains here in SoCal, it's always a dream. A good dream,
I love the rain, I love the change in scenery, its must needed for all life and
nourishment.

As the day winds up, and I look back into the day, it feels and felt, like a dream.
A dream that is neither here or there.

when I find work like this
it seems so simple. I love the wittiness of it.
like a child would make it.
In fact a child would - but in most cases we would
tell them it's not ok.
Last weekend when Leeloo and I went to the artLA
show,(where we brushed car doors with Dennis Hopper) (TMI)
she was looking at all this art work. And it was
an interest to me to see what she found interesting, more
than what I would find interesting.  When "work" comes
back to the simplicity like that of a child, it seems so obvious.
And yet we/I can drift away from that space.

What I see is someone not afraid of pursing an idea, a thought, a
playful gesture.  I get them all the time, some I act on, some I dont.
And when people go to school they are considered professionals
of this arena because they studied how to think in this way - or
elaborate it.

When we went to LACMA before Xmas. I was walking through the museum
and was wondering who put this stuff in here. This stuff being art.  It was
beautiful objects, paintings or what have you. And it was appointed by some
higher ups to give it a greater value than other work made.  Possibly.
I find there are so many beautiful things made, by people that are not professional
artist. That dont' just create paintings and sculptures. They are the ones
unseen, creating a life of love. Creating love in the little moments creates magick.
In the spaces in between.

This was something that I found from here, Jeff Bridges website.
If you feel like playing on the internet for awhile -
go there.
It's an eclectic aray of interest. And a well done site.

These are his five rules...for being happy.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

These are mine. (minus the rules)
Receive & Give. It's a circulation that continually feeds you and gets you exactly what you need when you need it.
Gratitude. It's the heart's connection to all the good, all the bad, and all the in-between.
Joy. Find it. Live it, and Become it. It's what people want to feel more than anything.

And for shits and giggles try this on that fancy little tongue of yours...
Bobby Bippy bought a bat.
Bobby Bippy bought a ball.
With his bat Bob banged the ball
Banged it bump against the wall
But so boldly Bobby banged it
That he burst his rubber ball
""Boo!"" cried Bobby
Bad luck ball
Bad luck Bobby, bad luck ball
Now to drown his many troubles
Bobby Bippy's blowing bubbles.

the Return. The Renewal.

I've been quite...sort of.
I've been experiencing an integration. a return.
An integration of the old(past) and the new(thenow&future)
It's been great for me, not so great for the body
Needing more time to allow my body to catch up to the immense
changes, transition and integration.
About ready for a cleanse to facilitate the natural process that's
already underway.
And... we have some really incredible projects budding at our Studio,
that's also taking my time away from my blogging (study and research).
I can't wait to tell (show) you more as that comes about.
It's truly my first labor of love, that I can call my own, to contribute to our world.
Stay Tuned!

With all that said.
A personal renewal is underway, much like that of our country.
We, (and I) are beginning anew.

Lick and Lather

Janine Antoni, did an awesome installation called Lick and Lather.
Two carved self-portrait bust of herself, one made of chocolate(lick), and one made of soap(lather).
In most of her work she uses herself, ether through self portraits, or the use of her hair for painting.
Here's an excerpt from an interview on PBS. There's a series called ART21, that profiles artist of all kind, highly inspirational viewing!

"I think it’s a funny thing when you think about the creative process and what we go through when we’re making a work. A lot of times there’s this element of destruction. That we have to kind of unmake in order to make. And that interests me very much. And also working from very basic materials. I’m also thinking a lot about this idea that there’s this kind of relationship between me and her that I’m literally feeding myself with myself and washing myself with myself. So there’s this circular narrative that’s happening."

Shall We?

This is a conversation - if you can call it that - via Facebook from this morning.
I'm finding it interesting that people, are 'safely relating' through the internet in a certain respect, and revealing themselves through blogs, facebook, myspace, e-mails, etc...
And how they come across in person is either fabricated, hidden behind their personality, or totally different from who they present themselves as a presence via the Internet.
Would I say things differently if there was no text/e-mails/blogs/etc...?
I think there's a fair argument to say that there's a time and place for everything, and an
appropriateness to it all.

Texting can be ultra casual. So much nuances of people and what is being said is lost through texting.

E-mail is fair game - it can be personal/business

Facebook and Myspace should really be just fun and play, and
blogging an inspirational notebook posted publicly.

I'm not holding strong to this, as I'm just exploring this conversation with myself.
I'd love to hear any feedback about what others think of this.

(hmm not sure my post copied from facebook. will type it in later...)

I love you more than

This is really incredible.
I do this little ritual with leeloo every morning
telling her "I Love You More than....the sun, the sky, the ice cream
Dustin made, I did yesterday..."

There's a website here doing the same.

Dear God.

Here's a
website,  DEAR GOD,  that provides a place, to place your prayers.
One so that the world can see.
Prayers to a non-denominational God.
What do you think about people sharing their prayer?
I read some of them, some are sad, some funny, some seem really
simple to me. Like I could answer them, and give a direction.
Maybe I should start a website that answers God's Questions.

Ok. And if I wrote a letter to God right now it might go something like this...

dear God.
You Ominous Force. You have been such an intriguing part of my life.
I have looked a lot to find you. I no longer look. As I am learning the ways
of being Human here on Earth. I believe it's the basic task you assigned us all,
however I (you/we) may find it. I find it fascinating that people see God as
the responsible force that makes their life either better or worse.
I'm no expert on you, God. I do, and have found that I am fond of your creations,
and destructions. I love my beautiful daughter that we created, and all the
wild and crazy rides I've been on since the birth of my daughter, I love the
journey my life has provided, and the continual unfolding' that surprise me.
I've always known there was a higher force of some sort.
It always felt in my best intrest to be apart of it rather than away from it.
I guess in a nutshell, Love and gratitude cultivates my connection to God.

Holding the space of Love, in this movie starring Me (with You).
This was the (pg version of my letter to GOD
it would be juicier and more intimate without the
audience.)

a new balance

A new time, a new chapter, a new balance.
Over the weekend, I was feeling this in myself. I have been through many
waves, storms, and hurricanes in these past few years, and months.
And now it stopped.
the new balance is being re-established.
It's like living life with a
particular lens all my life, and now that lens is gone, taken off.
I'll go through situations that would throw me for a loop, and it's not.
I'll experience something that would give me tons of energy, and now it does not.
Or
Lastly, I'll experience something and be completely neutral.

Perspective. Feeling. Being.

If I really think about my life in a time line and encapsulate it through the gregorian calendar...by years. It might look a bit like this....

30 Years ago. I was born on Nov 7 1978.
20 years ago. I dont remember.
10 years ago. I was working at the Bodhi Tree Bookstore hanging out with a DJ in Silverlake, going to school for photography
5 years ago. I was leading full time life as a yoga practitioner.
3 years ago. I was in newborn bliss with my daughter Leeloo Love

However. It didn't happen that way, because it doesn't feel that way.

This my point, quick and upfront.
Life is often remembered through the feeling of your experiences.
The inner feelings that lay within you is what you create, and what you will remember.
In the past few weeks, there are many ideas about how to accomplish your goals in life for the "new year."
Like...Im going to be a hipster, or Im going to really get on the ball with my career, my body, my dreams etc...
The connection to make my friend, is the FEELING.
The Feeling of Being. The feeling of being, successful, happy, in love, healthy, accomplished or whatever you want comes from your frequency of being.

The Feeling of being successful comes from your focus, hard work, your ability to move through obstacles, and staying true to your path. Or the FEELING of being healthy, again comes through your determination, care for your body, and acknowledgement that you don't want to feel any other way.

For some this might not be new, for some it may.

A friend of mine was telling me about the life he wanted to create on the Full Moon last month. We did it intentionally sharing what was next for us. And as he talked, I felt everything he was saying through my heart.
That's how I take things in and process.
Although this time, it opened my eyes to see that life isn't just an image that we create. Like the perfect body, the perfect wife/husband, house, job, family, garden, etc... And the image of perfect can be totally different for everyone.
I saw my image of "perfect" be shattered this year. It's probably why I can say this now. What we want is usually what we have in front of us, and it's often our concepts that get in the way.

Yet, I see all of what you do want to accomplish will come through embodiment of the feeling ________.

Here's another blog entry along the same lines, by Jack Cheng.

As we work toward our resolutions for the new year, we can draw inspiration from Fuller’s remarkable mindset. Take a look at your list of resolutions. Instead of only asking “what do I need to accomplish?” maybe another question to ask is “what do I need to believe in order to be the kind of person who accomplishes these things?”

the intent.

However, these days that is changing. I see things at times that make my heart melt.

Not necessarily the close-ups, the ones with space feels like what I like to have in a relationship.

If you're an artist and you want to get steadily better at your craft, you need to continually refine your approach to telling the truth. The novelist Willa Cather said that. Now I'm here to invite you to adopt that strategy in 2009, whether you're an artist or simply a person who wants to live your life artfully. to Blog or not to Blog

It's not the question. The question is where to Blog, there are so many options. So far I like Blogger, the ability to create a simple template and have minimal control is key. I don't want to think to much about it, at this point.

Here are some winning pictures of the day!
